Reading Residents Against Censorship

Photo by Susan Q Yin on Unsplash
We reject any efforts to ban books. We believe individuals and parents should decide what they read. There will always be disagreement about content for teens. We can trust parents to make the right decisions for their own families.

We believe LGBTQ kids have a right to be represented in books. It's important for us all to see ourselves in our media and culture.

Why is this important?

Banning books from public libraries is a slippery slope to government censorship and the erosion of our country's commitment to freedom of expression.

How it will be delivered

A book at the Reading Public Library has been challenged. We will present these signatures to the Board of Library Trustees.
