Right now, there are no Fight For The First groups nearby. The aim of this website is to give you the tools to build a Fight For The First group in your community to campaign on issues both locally and nationally.
What sets Fight for the First apart from all the other petition sites out there? It’s not about the petitions!
Fight for the First draws on the power of people just like you, who are passionate about making change, to create a movement for long-lasting change.
Through our local groups feature, you can take direct action in your community, backed by our full database of emails, metadata, and social media network. Our team are experts at defending libraries across the nation, but only you understand the problems faced in your community.
Local groups are the backbone of our democratic efforts. But, as well as organizing for action, local groups inspire community! You can get together socially—start a book club, gather for film nights, and find new friends who care about the issues in your home area.
Becoming an organizer means getting involved in Fight For The First, and volunteering some of your time, but it also means serving as a role model for your community. You will organize meetings and events for Fight For The First members who live near you to get together, and you will also be the person that the national team communicates to build effective campaigns.
As an organizer, you will be able to use this website to:
- email all members of the group
- email any member of the group
- create events
- post a message on the website for other Fight For The First members
- email a Fight For The First staff member
- delete offensive messages on the website in line with the Fight For The First comment policy
